Expert Radiology Interpretation: The Specialists Behind Your Scan

Updated: Mar 11

The Experts Behind Your Scan

When you receive an advanced heart and lung scan, the most important part of the process isn’t just the imaging technology — it’s who interprets the images.

At our facilities, every scan is reviewed in-house by our own private team of board-certified, fellowship-trained radiologists. These physicians completed advanced training and education through programs affiliated with the Mayo Clinic, one of the most respected medical institutions in the world.

Their expertise is what transforms hundreds of imaging slices into clear, meaningful medical insight.

From Images to Medical Insight

A single heart and lung scan produces hundreds of high-resolution images of the chest.

Our radiologists carefully analyze these images one by one, looking for subtle changes or early indicators that may not yet be causing symptoms.

During this review process, they:

• Examine the heart, lungs, and surrounding structures

• Identify and highlight any abnormalities or areas requiring attention

• Measure and evaluate calcified plaque within the coronary arteries

• Document findings that may impact long-term health

This detailed evaluation is what ultimately becomes your official radiology report.

Creation of Your Cardiac Calcium Score

One of the most important parts of the scan is the Cardiac Calcium Score.

This score measures calcified plaque inside the coronary arteries, which supply blood to the heart muscle. Plaque buildup can gradually narrow these arteries and increase the risk of heart attack.

To calculate this score, our radiologists:

• Isolate the five major coronary arteries supplying the heart

• Measure calcified plaque within each artery

• Assign an individual score to each artery based on plaque volume and density

• Combine those values to produce your total Cardiac Calcium Score

This provides a measurable way to detect early coronary artery disease, often before symptoms appear.

Typical score ranges include:

0 – No detectable plaque

1–99 – Mild plaque buildup

100–399 – Moderate plaque burden

400+ – Significant plaque and elevated cardiovascular risk

What Happens After Your Scan

Once the radiologist completes their analysis, a comprehensive diagnostic report is created.

This report includes:

• Your Cardiac Calcium Score• Observations related to the heart and coronary arteries

• Evaluation of the lungs and surrounding structures• Identification of nodules or abnormalities

• A professional radiology interpretation

Priority Radiology Consultation

If your scan reveals findings that require urgent attention or closer monitoring, you will receive a complimentary consultation from the radiology team within 24–72 hours to review the findings and discuss next steps.

If you do not receive a call within that timeframe, you can take a deep breath and relax your shoulders — it generally means no urgent abnormalities were identified. Or more simply put, YOU ARE IN PERFECT CONDITION.

Regardless, you will still receive your full radiology report.

Private Patient Portal & Medical Privacy

Your results will be uploaded into a secure private portal within our internal EMR system.

Your privacy is extremely important to us.

• Your results are viewable only by you

• We do not integrate with nationwide medical databases

• We do not submit results to insurance systems

• Your medical information remains private and protected

When you arrive for your scan, you will create your personal patient portal.

The process is simple:

• Your email address becomes your username

• You create your own private password

• Your reports and results are securely stored in your portal for you to access anytime

Expertise That Matters

Advanced imaging technology is powerful, but expert interpretation is what gives the scan its true value.

Having your images reviewed by board-certified, fellowship-trained radiologists trained through programs affiliated with the Mayo Clinic ensures your scan is evaluated with a high level of expertise and precision.

This combination of advanced imaging and expert analysis provides meaningful insight into your health — often before symptoms ever appear.

I did this scan at the Columbus OH location. The scan was simple, the staff were exceptional. I'm 68, this year, I don't have any issues that I can feel, after I got my results I found out that my thyroid had some major issues. I am not working with my doctor of 17 years to come up with a game plan for treatment. This scan is a no brainer at $1360 and an absolute no brainer at $79. What you may not know is this, that $79 also included a scan for my husband. Literally we both got scanned for $79. Because of my findings, we went back to craft body scan and bought a package of scans a…
